ECLASS Release 17.0 Alpha now available for testing

The alpha version of ECLASS Release 17.0 has been completed and is now available for testing by the ECLASS community. This marks the next important step in the release process: members of the relevant bodies, expert groups, IT service providers, and the developers’ community are invited to review the deliverables for technical and general issues and to provide feedback.

The open deliverables currently available include BASIC CSV / XML in both German and English. Additional files, including ADVANCED XML and update files in German and English, will be provided over the next few days. The alpha version can also be viewed via the Content Development Platform (CDP).

Focus of the alpha phase: quality assurance and feedback

The main objective of the alpha phase is a technical and general quality check of the content. At the same time, users are invited to submit change requests to correct or enhance content. Please note that change requests submitted for the alpha release candidate have already been processed. If further adjustments are required for these elements, the generated IRDIs should be used.

Feedback on the alpha version can now be sent to hotline@eclass.de with the subject line “ECLASS 17.0 Alpha-Check”. If issues are identified, the relevant expert groups will be contacted as part of the review process.

Deadline for the beta phase

Change requests that are to be considered for the beta version must be submitted by 10 July 2026.

------
Update: Deadline for Change Requests extended to July 17, 2026

The deadline for submitting change requests to be considered in the beta phase of ECLASS Release 17.0 has been extended retroactively to July 17, 2026. This gives the expert groups additional time to submit further important change requests.

The extension is particularly significant with regard to the development of new content from Expert Group 51 and the content of the new segment 52. Wherever possible, these items are intended to be incorporated into the beta phase.

At the same time, the extension also affects the overall schedule for the release development. At present, ECLASS Release 17.0 is still planned for publication at the end of November as scheduled. However, due to the postponement, a later release date cannot be ruled out.
