| Definition | In the construction industry, a foam, which is produced only at the place of installation, is referred to as a foam in the building sector. As long as it is liquid, it can flow seamlessly into cavities, fit joints or be leveled horizontally. It is only mechanically stable after the curing time. Local foams are used for fixing, sealing, heat and sound insulation. A further application for the foam is the mounting foam for the fixing and sealing of door and window poles, typically made of polyurethane. Another application for site foams is thermal insulation of two-shell masonry or double-walled wooden walls. Local foams can be organic (plastic, polymer) or pure mineral, such as, for example, the magnesium oxychloride cement foam.
