| Definition | Sand-lime brick (SL) is an artificially produced brick of sand and calcium silicate hydrate produced by steam hardening. These are lintels made of reinforced and concreted KS-shaped blocks. The permissible line loads are determined by the width of the lintel, the length of the bearing, the type and height of the foundation and the reinforcement inserted. If the lintels are covered with masonry, the joints must be mortar so that a pressure vault can form. Flat lintels are used for visible walls and plastered masonry and laid with the shell downwards.
