Definition Two-component reactive adhesives in which the used monomer (methyl ester of methacrylic acid) is polymerized by a free-radical chain reaction. To start the polymerization reaction, a reactive radical is needed, which arises from a peroxide, when an accelerator is added. Enventually only to start the radical reaction, the 2-component system is needed, wherein the peroxide and accelerator come together and form the starting radicals. Both can therefore be commercialize: the peroxide in methyl methacrylate monomer as a component and the accelerator dissolved in the basic monomer as a second component. By mixing the two components, the radical chain reaction is initiated and the adhesive cures. Another variant brings the monomer and the peroxide into one component and uses as a second component only the accelerator. This allows the preceding mixing of the two components to be omitted (and the associated time), when the main component is applied to a joining part and the accelerator is applied on the other part
