Definition electrical generator is a machine which dissipates kinetic energy or mechanical energy into electrical energy. A generator is based on the principle of electro-magnetic induction and is used for the generating the electrical alternating current. Generators of direct current, also called DC machines, produce direct current because of the detection of the alternating current. Main group 27010000 is structured on the basis of electrical power which is produced by generators and measured in megavolt-ampere. One exception are the generators which produce traction current with only monophasic voltage. They generate an alternating current of 16 2/3 Hertz instead of the usual 50 Hertz. Furthermore there is a differentiation in the groups between the components of the generators (exciter facilities and others), their mounting, service, inspection and maintenance
