Definition Enteral nutrition is understood as a special form of so-called artificial nutrition in which the still available, functioning gastrointestinal tract is used. It is designed for people who have a lack of or limited ability to maintain adequate nutrition. A distinction is made between tube-fed nasogastric tubes or percutaneous tubes and liquid food directly in the stomach or small intestine, and drinking food. The latter is a liquid iso or high calorie diet taken orally - for patients who still have adequate swallowing. For the application of tube feeds - in addition to the food container - even medical aids such as the tubes themselves, systems for the transfer line of liquid food, special syringes and possibly adapters necessary. These are grouped together in this main group, too
