Green Light for the digital Battery Passport

The digital battery passport aims to promote sustainability and transparency of batteries, reduce environmental pollution and support the recycling of batteries. From 2027, the battery passport will be the first digital product passport in the EU to become mandatory for industrial and car batteries. ECLASS Release 15.0 already offers all structures and functions for the battery passport.

Great news for all ECLASS users:

In the new release 15.0, which will be published at the end of 2024, all structures and properties required for the digital battery pass are already stored in accordance with the "BatteryPass_Data Attribute Longlist" in the main group 27-05 "Accumulator, Battery". They will be available to users as of Release 15.0.

The new content includes several new properties in the new battery classes of main group "Battery, Accumulator", such as

  • State of certified energy
  • Initial self-discharging rate
  • Rated capacity
  • Capacity fade
  • Original power capability
  • State of charge (SoC)
  • And more…
