The Query Builder acts as a dynamic report generator that allows users to create, share, combine, and execute individual queries on existing ECLASS content as so-called query chains. This flexible structure allows complex relationships within the standard to be presented in a clear and comprehensible manner.
The versatility of the tool is particularly noteworthy: queries can be built on the basis of IRDIs, classes, or properties. This makes it possible, for example, to see which aspects reference a particular property or which properties belong to an aspect, including the preferred name and complete property details.
The Query Builder also offers decisive advantages for ensuring and improving data quality. Typical questions such as:
• Which elements are marked as “deprecated”?
• Which quantities do not yet have a German definition?
• Which properties have been assigned to which aspects so far?
• Which properties are used in all classes in my segment?
can be answered quickly and precisely. All results can then be conveniently exported to Excel – ideal for further analysis and reporting. In addition, the tool supports visual and organizational functions to clearly display even large amounts of data.
The launch of the ECLASS Query Builder is planned for April 2026 and will first be rolled out to ECLASS members for their expert group work.
