Definition | In the construction industry, under-jointing is the elastic seal of a joint with sealants or with ribbons and joint profiles. There are various techniques of grouting. Common sealants are silicone for the sanitary area or acrylic for connecting joints. These plastics belong to the group of elastomers. They are elastic, good heat conductors but poorly conductive. A sealant is a material for sealing joints, gaps, perforations and the like. In contrast to a seal, the sealant must adhere to the joint flanks in order to fulfill its function. Joint profiles and strips are prefabricated ready-to-fit materials which are then indicated when the shipment of liquid sealants is not suitable |
