What is ISO 8000-110?

ISO 8000 is the global standard for Data Quality and Enterprise Master Data. It describes the features and defines the requirements for standard exchange of Master Data among business partners. It establishes the concept of Portability as a requirement for Enterprise Master Data, and the concept that true Enterprise Master Data is unique to each organization.

To ensure an effective exchange of master data between organizations and systems, the reqirements include:

  • formal syntax
  • semantic encoding
  • conformance to data specifications
  • access to the data dictionaries that enable decoding of master data messages

ISO 8000-110 focuses on high quality data management. This standard ensures that organizations can create, store and transfer data effectively, minimizing data duplication and increasing reliability. By addressing data quality from the smallest elements, ISO 8000-110 ensures that your data is reliable and tailored to the specific requirements of different business functions.

Examples of how ECLASS supports ISO compliance:

  • ECLASS defines Technical Specifications for the major master data exchange standards (e.g. BMEcat, AutomationML, Asset Administrion shell, ISO 29002 / ECLASS workflows) which describe how to used ECLASS for Master data exchange using these fomal syntax.
  • ECLASS uses ISO 29002 based concept identifiers (IRDI) which allow semantic encoding in Master data exchange.
  • The ECLASS data model is enabled for usage of ECLASS templates , i.e. ISO 22745 based data specifications.
  • The ECLASS Standard is delivered in CSV , XML (based on ISO 13584-32) and JSON representation . Moreover the ECLASS Standard may be obtained using REST-Web-Services  in XML and JSON representation.
