Classification: 20000000 [AAT090008]

Preferred name 20 Packing material
Definition Packaging materials are products that serve to wrap the packaged goods so that they can be shipped, stored and sold. The packaging material has the function of protecting the packaged goods. A distinction is made between primary (in direct contact with the packaged goods), secondary (example: outer packaging), tertiary (example: transport packaging) and supplementary (example: compartments made of plastic or cardboard). In addition, a differentiation is made between disposable and reusable packaging. Packaging materials are integrated in the entire cycle, starting from the raw material to the end product, from the manufacturer to the end consumer. Packaging aids are all aids that are used together with packaging materials, e.g. to seal a package. They can also be used alone, e.g. to form a shipping unit
