Call for experts: IDTA and ECLASS form working groups for "Computing Platform Resources" and "Fiberoptic cables and microducts"

The results of the InterOpera projects „Computing Platform Resources“ and „Fiberoptic cables and microducts“ are being continued in two newly founded Joint Working Groups. The aim is to standardize the AAS submodels in combination with the standardization of the semantic structural elements in ECLASS. With the support of experts from industry, direct synergies will be created in order to establish standards for industrial practice.

„Digital data exchange in industrial and system automation requires tried-and-tested solutions. The combination of AAS and ECLASS is powerful and directly usable. In the Joint Working Groups, the work of the experts will therefore be transformed into concrete results based on InterOpera“, says Thorsten Kroke, General Manager ECLASS Head Office.

„The two standards working together create synergies for the industry. The formation of joint working groups bundles competencies. The strengths in the field of cross-company data exchange are taken to the next level“, says Christian Mosch, Managing Director of IDTA.

Based on the successful and goal-oriented cooperation, IDTA and ECLASS call for participation in the following Joint Working Groups:

  • Joint Working Group 1: „Computing Platform Resources“
Hardware descriptions are becoming increasingly important in the computerized world. In an AAS submodel, the features of hardware, e.g. for software or in cloud computing, are to be described with ECLASS. The Expert Group for Subject Area 19 „Information, Communication and Media Technology“ is involved in ECLASS.

  • Joint Working Group 2: „Fiberoptic cables and microducts“
The increasing data exchange requires a corresponding infrastructure both in broadband expansion and in the devices. Technical descriptions of fiber optic cables and microducts are becoming increasingly important in engineering, for instance. In an AAS submodel, these descriptions are to be made possible with ECLASS. The Expert Groups 19-17-01 and 27-06-18-03 are involved in ECLASS.

In the InterOpera projects, AAS have already been modeled according to IDTA with ECLASS. It is therefore based on existing work.
