ECLASS for the Battery Pass: New content for describing batteries is planned

Essential basics for realizing the Battery Pass based on ECLASS have already been prepared.

The strategic project to realize the Battery Pass based on ECLASS envisages restructuring the existing ECLASS class structure in main group 27-05 “Accumulator, Battery” in accordance with the Battery Ordinance (BattVO). The aim is that the wording of the types of batteries defined in the BattVO is present in ECLASS in a comparable way and can be used uniformly by the market.

In addition, in a collaboration between ECLASS and Catena-X, it is planned to use the attribute list developed by Catena-X and still to be harmonized with the "BatteryPass_Data Attribute Longlist" for the description of batteries as a basis for new attributes, which will then also be available in ECLASS. The aim here is to enable a standardized form to be available in ECLASS as quickly as possible, even if not all standardization activities of the various standardization organizations have been finalized as of today.

Catena-X and all interested companies and standardization institutions are involved in the ECLASS activities. Other experts/companies can also be involved in this implementation. Please do not hesitate to contact the ECLASS office.
