Call for Experts: Automated Services in ECLASS

How can functions and industrial production methods be described? In the Expert Group 25 “General Services” we are looking for support from experts and companies who can further advance the topic together with us.

Human services are increasingly being replaced by machines: in a production line where the employee used to drill the hole, a robot arm now takes over this task.

The topic of “services” is essential for Industry 4.0 AAS, for example when describing parts that become a new product within an industrial manufacturing process. The service is inextricably linked to the products described in ECLASS, regardless of whether it was carried out by an employee or a machine.

"Every product is connected to internal and external services, e.g. for maintenance purposes. Or today it even contains embedded software service offerings that have to be mapped in the Digital Twin via the Asset Administration Shell in order to complete the Digital Twin over the lifecycle of the product. It is therefore essential to enable a supplementary representation of the physical product in ECLASS."

To represent these “services” or “functions”, which also include industrial production methods, a very good content model has already been developed in the past to describe such processes.

In the Expert Group 25 “General Services” we are looking for support from experts and companies who can further advance the topic together with us. For further information, please contact the ECLASS Head Office or directly Stefan Willms (stefan.willms@morphe.de.com), head of Expert Group 25.
