The ECLASS e.V. has actively focused on the developments in the building industry for some years now and has identified potential partners with whom the ECLASS Standard has now been jointly extended in accordance to the requirements of the building industry.
ECLASS Release 14.0 will contain a large number of new and optimized classes, properties and values, which will make it possible to classify and describe (building) products in a detailed, neutral and standardized way. Particularly noteworthy are the following product areas from the segment "22 Construction Technology":
- Implementation of the "Door List" developed by buildingSMART Germany, with the involvement of well-known door manufacturers as well as the ECLASS member STRABAG, with the corresponding properties in the ECLASS area "22-28-01 Door".
- Implementation of the properties developed by freeclass with the involvement of well-known manufacturers and based on EN standards for the ECLASS area "22-22-01 Insulating material". Thus also mineral wool, rigid foam and many other insulating materials become describable in detail via ECLASS.
-
Reconstruction of the structures in the area "22-34-01 Concrete" by the ECLASS member Schleith GmbH together with experts from other companies. In this area, in the future, according to the practice of the construction companies and concrete manufacturers, a "concrete by characteristics" and a "concrete by composition" with the necessary properties, based on EN standards, will be provided in ECLASS.
-
In addition, the areas "22-14 Pipe and pipe fitting (building material)" as well as "22-47 Tile, panel" and other areas from the sanitary field have been optimized and revised.
The extensive extension of the segment "22 Construction technology" is also supported by the regular optimization and expansion of the segment "27 Electric engineering, automation, process control engineering" with essential content on technical building equipment (TGA) and the segment "23 Machine element, fixing, mounting".
ECLASS 14.0 will be published in December 2023 and provides significant content improvements, especially for the building industry, which will support digitization and BIM processes in particular.
