ECLASS is an open and continuously evolving standard. Because markets, technologies, and industry requirements change rapidly, the ECLASS classification system will never be “complete.” Adjustments, corrections, and extensions are essential to keep the Standard future‑proof. Each year, we work with experts from development, industry, and trade to publish a new release that reflects all current requirements.

Contributing to the ECLASS Content

Anyone interested in shaping the ECLASS Standard can submit a Change Request (CR) — whether you are an ECLASS e.V. member, a user, or an external expert. All Change Requests are reviewed and processed transparently and in alignment with internationally established procedures and norms within our Expert Groups. The ECLASS maintenance process is based on ISO requirements and similar to the maintenance process of other standards as e.g. the DIN property server.

How to create a Change Request?

Change Requests can be submitted via the ECLASS ContentDevelopmentPlatform (CDP). Detailed instructions can be found in the sub-sections of the CDP User Manual.
For internal bulk submissions, users may alternatively use the Import Sheet.
